South Asia, also called the Indian Subcontinent, consists of the modern nations of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. In addition to these, Afghanistan, Tibet and the Chagos Archipelago (British Indian Ocean Territory) are sometimes also included in it.
